'Lost' Star Daniel Dae Kim Arrested for DUI in Hawaii

The seemingly endless round of drunken celebrities behind the wheel keeps churning as yet another actor has been busted for drinking & driving. Lost star Daniel Dae Kim is the latest celeb to end up in jail for indulging in alcohol before climbing into his car. Kim's arrest is the third in a string of DUI busts for Lost cast members.

University of Hawaii Changes its Colors

Prior to 2000, the University of Hawaii's mens teams were all referred to as the Rainbow Warriors, complemented by an athletics logo featuring a rainbow.The Associated Press reported that a school official conceded that the football team wanted to change the logo because of concerns about its homosexual theme.

Historic First Win for Openly Transgender Candidate in Hawaii
Tuesday's mid-term elections marked a historic first in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LBGT) movement for equality and civic engagement. With a comfortable victory garnering 81,532 votes, attorney Kim Coco Iwamoto was elected to Hawaii's state-level Board of Education (Oahu-at-Large), a non-partisan office.

Gay Rights Group Has Harsh Words for Hawaii Governor

The Human Rights Campaign is taking issue this week with Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle, who vetoed a bill earlier this week that would have added protections based on gender identity and expression to the state’s employment discrimination law. Despite the fact that the bill passed by a wide margin, according to the HRC, the Legislature took no action to override the veto.

Bill To Ban Discrimination Against Gays Moves Forward In Hawaii
Legislation to add sexuality to Hawaii's housing anti-discrimination laws was approved by the state Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday, but with conditions. Landlords are already prohibited from discriminating against prospective tenants or buyers on the basis of race, gender, religion, marital status, ancestry, age, disability and H-I-V infection.

Hawaii Civil Unions Bill Dies
Legislation to allow civil unions in the state has died in a House committee. More than 100 people on both sides of the issue packed a House Judiciary Committee hearing last week, but, when the gavel sounded, the committee did not have a quorum and no time to take a vote before time ran out on the measure.
